A reverse mortgage is a special loan for homeowners 62 years of age and older that allows them to convert a part of their home equity into cash. To be eligible, one or more of these requirements must be met: you own your home outright, the value of your calculated Reverse Mortgage will cover the balance of an existing mortgage, or you have attended an educational counseling session conducted by an approved agency in the area.

Because each borrower is unique, the maximum amount you can borrow depends on your age, the loan rate and the value of your property. While you maintain the home as your primary residence, no payments are due. When you no longer live at the home, the loan becomes due and payable by the borrower or borrower’s heir.
